I mentioned in a previous post that I was having trouble reintegrating with society.
Another aspect of that is that I have memory problems, or a sort. I lose time, more so than is usual, and I have difficulty remembering where I am in time.
The iPhone is an amazing piece of technology for anyone with brain damage difficulties.
The apps I use the most are the clock (alarms), It’s Done (check off list with alarms), calender (used extensively), Evernote (cloud based notes), and a VA written PTSD app.
There’s others I use as well, a password app that allows me to place all of my user names and passwords to all of the gazillion places I need such security, the iPod app when I need to calm down immediately, and a few more.
It has eased the distress in my life exponentially. It doesn’t matter if I lose track of time or what day it is, alarms with plenty of notice remind me to get the basics (taking medication, feeding Keegan, brush my teeth, etc) get done. I haven’t missed any appointments because I have two reminders for each one with space for details pertaining to the appointments. And all the things I need to do each day are spelled out with all the details I need in my Evernote notebooks.
For example, I can set an alarm to go to my VA appointment at Southgate. I write a note in the appointment to see my list of concerns in my Evernote notebook. In my Evernote notebook I list all the items I want to make sure get covered along with names and numbers of previous docs or lawyers or locations of paperwork, whatever.
I can even make a reminder that will go off during the appt to make sure that I’ve remembered to actually ask about my list of concerns.
Of course I use the phone as well. 🙂
