Languages

Since I’ve been on winter break from school I’ve been practicing my Spanish. I’ve finally found one of the libraries that has a small collection of youth Spanish language books. My reading level is about 3rd grade I’d guess, the magic tree house series is good for me. I can struggle through the Harry Potter series but that’s only because I already know the story.
So anyway, I’ve been reading primary school books with the occasional help of my dictionary. And it goes pretty smoothly.

I used to be able to read German at about a high school level but I think I’ve forgotten all of it. 😦

BUT!
If I won the lottery, I’d learn Spanish better, then Latin, and Hebrew, and Arabic, and Gaelic, and French, maybe Greek, and then maybe some of the dead languages.
And I’d be a happy happy scholar.

What languages would you learn?

I’ve always said I’d like to be able to say, “Two beers please” and “Where is the bathroom?” in every language on earth.

Ancient Greek, Latin, Austrailian Aborigine, Mayan and maybe some from the area of India (again ancient). Mainly just to learn\research their histories and stories.

  3. I think that there are still 3 dialects of mayan in existence, though I don’t think the written matches the spoken.

I always wished I could be like dr. Daniel Jackson in SG-1, any planet they go to he can pick out a few words that have the same root as some ancient language he’s studies on earth and he can magically interpret for them anywhere he goes other universe!

    😀
