Good morning everyone.

Today is the first day I’ve made oatmeal in my camper. I’m starting to get more comfortable, with the stove, the camper, and the situation. It’s starting to feel like home instead of just camping out.

Whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing I can’t say.

Anyway, the new hammock ties/knots worked out really well and I slept quite well last night, no blankets sliding off in the middle of the night, repeatedly.

This morning I made myself some oatmeal with brown sugar using my camp stove.

Note: titanium pots slide off camp stoves. Always hold on to the pot, even if its just sitting there simmering.

McManns 3 minute oatmeal is worth the price. It actually tastes like something (which I presume is oats) other than sugar or cardboard. And the texture is good, there’s some solidity to it, something to chew. Very satisfying.

If you must live on the cheap, good grub is worth the money

You might try steel-cut oats in bulk… not expensive, and damned good. “Bulk doesn’t mean you need to buy a huge amount, either. You can bag up a serving or two and hit the road smiling.

  3. I will check into the bulk.
I haven’t worked out a good system for storing bulk items yet in my liitle “cupboard”.

I did buy some bulk dried fruits and dehydrated bean soup (good stuff) yesterday but couldn’t find any dried veggies. đŸ˜¦

But now I have a mess of plastic baggies floating around and taking up visual space.
