I’ve decided having the ability to heat up hot water and do the most basic of “cooking” has increased my mood considerably.
When I first started out I packed the truck as full as I could. Food, water, clothes, whatever I thought I would need. I went overboard on the food. Having spent the first 10 years of my life always hungry I have this “thing” about not having enough food.
But now that I’ve been out for a few weeks I’ve been able to pare down and open up more space in the camper.
When I built it I created room for “workspace”. But it’s been filled up with cans of food until now.
I’ve finally got it organized enough and spare enough that I have my workspace available.
That gives me a stable surface, at the right height, to set up my camp stove and pot and be able to “cook”.
All I have is a pot so far. I may look into getting a little fry pan but I haven’t decided yet.
For anyone worried about fumes.. my camper is not airtight and has quite a bit of airflow. Come winter I may have to do something about that, but for right now, it’s perfect.

/ October 27, 2011A wok is very versatile & economical. Those Chinese inventions from thousands of yrs ago stuck around for a reason. When I was single, I cooked almost everything from soup to meat on a wok. Boiling water for rice might require a little more. Don’t skimp on food: good eats make for a good mind, body, and spirit. The closer you can get to all natural the better. Peace out
